Ireland

Key facts

Who we are and how we work with Irish businesses

SolidKern is an independent IT service provider established in Villiers-le-Bel, in the Val-d’Oise, just north of Paris. We have no office, branch or representative in Ireland, and we say so up front: every project is run from France.

Almost all of our work, from an Active Directory audit to a Windows 11 migration or a Microsoft 365 and Intune set-up, is carried out over secure remote access, with video calls for workshops, reviews and handover. When part of a project genuinely needs someone in the room, for example to install hardware or run an on-site workshop, the visit is quoted separately, exactly as it is for customers in France.

Outside France, we work with businesses only. Our customers are small and medium-sized organisations, often without an in-house IT department, and IT teams that need a reliable extra pair of hands on a sensitive project.

Time zone and scheduling

Ireland is one hour behind Paris all year round, as both countries change their clocks on the same dates. Calls and workshops are set at times that suit your team, agreed in advance. Planned cut-overs and migrations are scheduled with you in advance to limit the impact on your production.

You can book a free 30-minute discovery call online, or a one-hour in-depth study session, invoiced 80 euros (VAT not applicable), if your project needs a detailed look before a quote; its amount is deducted from the project if a quote that follows from it is accepted within two months. Both are available from our contact page.

Language, quotes and invoicing

We work with you in English: calls, quotes, reports and documentation. Each project starts with a written quote setting out the scope, deliverables, milestones, estimated lead times and prerequisites.

Ireland and France share the euro, so prices and invoices are in euros with no exchange rate involved. VAT not applicable (article 293 B of the French General Tax Code); the tax arrangements specific to Ireland and to your business are set out on the quote, before any commitment. Bank charges on your side are borne by you. Unless agreed otherwise, 30% is due on order and the balance at the milestones in the quote, by bank transfer. Our terms of service and pricing give the details.

What we do, and what we do not do

Irish businesses have access to our whole catalogue: audits, Windows and server migrations, virtualisation, virtual desktops, Citrix and Parallels RAS, Microsoft 365 and Intune, awareness training, GDPR documentation and IT project management. Each service is a project with a defined scope, a start and an end.

What we do not offer, in Ireland or anywhere else, is an ongoing commitment: day-to-day administration or monitoring of your IT estate, on-call cover, or a guaranteed recovery time. Those services call for a local provider who can be on site quickly, and we are happy to work alongside yours. We make no promise of a particular result or of guaranteed compliance: we give you findings you can check, a prioritised plan and the work to carry it out.

The Irish framework behind these projects

Several rules shape the IT projects we carry out for Irish businesses. We are not lawyers and give no legal advice; our role is to put the technical side in place and to document it.

GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the DPC

Personal data in Ireland is governed by the GDPR, supplemented by the Data Protection Act 2018. The supervisory authority is the Data Protection Commission (DPC). Because we are established in France and bound by the same regulation, the documentation we produce for you (record of processing activities, privacy notice, cookie banner) follows the same rules on both sides.

NIS2

The NIS2 Directive had to be transposed by 17 October 2024. On 8 July 2026, the European Commission referred Ireland to the Court of Justice of the EU for failing to notify full transposition. The transposing law is the National Cyber Security Bill; the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) publishes the current state of the legislation on its NIS2 page, together with its draft risk management guidance and the Cyber Fundamentals framework it announced in June 2025. Our page on NIS2 in Ireland sets out where things stand and how to prepare.

European Accessibility Act

The European Union (Accessibility Requirements of Products and Services) Regulations 2023 (S.I. No. 636 of 2023) transpose the European Accessibility Act and have applied since 28 June 2025. They mainly concern products and services sold to consumers, such as online shops and banking services; they rarely affect the internal IT projects we carry out, but they matter if your customer-facing systems are in scope.

Where we are most useful for Irish businesses

The Audit & Security package brings the Active Directory audit and team awareness together in one engagement. The full list is on our services page.

For your country

Frequently asked questions

Can you work on our systems without coming to Ireland?

Yes, for almost everything we do. Audits, migrations, Microsoft 365 and Intune projects and awareness sessions are carried out over secure remote access and video calls. When a project needs someone on site, the visit can be added to the quote, with its costs set out before you commit.

Do you travel to Ireland?

Yes, when a project needs it. The visit and its travel costs are quoted separately, as they are for customers in France. Most projects need no travel at all.

How does invoicing work between France and Ireland?

In euros, by bank transfer, VAT not applicable (article 293 B of the French General Tax Code). The tax arrangements specific to Ireland and to your business are set out on the quote before you commit.

Can you look after our IT day to day?

No. We do not provide ongoing administration, monitoring, on-call cover or guaranteed recovery times, in Ireland or elsewhere. We carry out defined projects and can work alongside your usual provider.

Can you tell us whether we are in scope of NIS2?

Not as a legal opinion: that assessment is yours and your advisers’, helped by the guidance the NCSC publishes. What we can do is review your systems against the NIS2 risk management measures and help you put the technical measures in place.
